Chapter Profile

The Morgan County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society was formed in 1981 as a department of the local Historical Society, and reorganized in 1986 as an independent organization.  The Chapter has been chartered by the State of Ohio as a nonprofit organization.

 

Our Mission

The Chapter is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and dissemination of genealogical and historical material relating to past residents of Morgan County, Ohio, and providing educational programs and workshops relating to such.

 

Meetings

The Chapter meets the 3rd Tuesday of February, May, August, and November, at 3:00 p.m. at the Kate Love Simpson Library, 358 E Main Street in McConnelsville, Ohio.

 

Newsletter

The Morgan Link is published by the Chapter quarterly. The Link reports activities and projects of the Society, and includes genealogical and historical information of interest to researchers with Morgan County, Ohio connections.  Queries are published free for members.  Nonmembers may submit queries for $1.00 each.  Send queries to the chapter at:

The Chapter's books, manuscripts, microfilm, and other genealogical and historical material is incorporated into the Kate Love Simpson Library, genealogy and local history collection.

Morgan County Yearbook Collection

The Morgan County Chapter and The Kate Love Simpson Library, in cooperation with the Oklahoma Correctional Institute, have digitized the libraries collection of Morgan County, Ohio yearbooks.   You may ask at the KLS Library circulation desk to view the Morgan County Yearbook DVD of your choice.  Some Morgan County yearbooks will only be available via the digital collection, as the originals are much too fragile to withstand repeated handling.

These yearbooks DVDs are now available from our chapter for $7.50 each.  Several years are covered on each DVD.  Click below for a printable order form.
